GPS- Mr. Ratcliffe

Written by: Emily C.

When we learned how to work a simple GPS with Mr. Ratcliffe I learned that not only can you figure out where things are, but you can figure out the time, altitude, tempurature, and much much more. The first thing we did was make sure our GPS's detected enough satellites to give us accurate information. Then we had to flip through the pages until we found a page with a triangle. After we had finished walking toward the tree and had come back, we saw that there were tracks from where we walked. The triangle showed us where we were and then there were small dots showing where we had been. Then we went to a page where there was a compass and we had to walk and turn until we came to a certain intermediate or cardinal direction.  After this excercise we saved our data in a file. Then sadly we had to go back inside and wait until next time Mr. Ratcliffe will come. On a scale from 1-10 I rate this GPSing experience a 9. It was very fun and interesting.
