I love science but math is still my fav. but the gps program was awesome. we were mostly roaming in circles trying to find north though. but we learned a bunch and i like science a little more each time.♣
P.S: SS and reading not my favorite supkects.
Hello Readers,
Today is September 24, 2010. Two days ago, we used the ARCGiS program that a man named Mr. Hough showed us. This simple program shows maps that you can choose, and many other things, like markers using symbols to show places on the earth. I found this program fun and educational.
Hey you fellow blog followers! Today I am going to tell you about my GPS expirament with Mr.wRatcliffe. We turned them on and we ran around a perimeter and saw how fast we ran and it also showed us how long it was and what the shape we ran was. It was super-fun and a great experience. It was nice of Mr. Ratcliffe to volunteer his time and patience with us. Thanks!
I have NEVER even touched a GPS I didn't know they're sooooo cool! Mr.Ratcliffe gave very good details on how to make it work! It shows you everlthing!

Mr.Ratcliff came and we got to use a GPS!
first we went outside and we turned the GPS on!!!!
After that we walked around with the gps and it made our path. after we did that we had to find which was north was! IT WAS SO FUN!!!
I'm going to talk about the GIS mapping lesson we had with Mr. Hough. The lesson he taught us was very exciting. We learned how to change what our maps look like. I personally liked this lesson better than the others because I think it was much more intresting than the others. Im looking forward to continuing the GIS mapping lesson with Mr. Hough. Well, thats it for today. Peace out a come again.
GPS is cool because of everything you can do with it. It is neat because of the way you can be creative.
GPS was cool because we learned about coordinates and stuff. If I ranked this on of scale 1-100 id rank it about 75% because we learned really cool things about GPS
SCIENCE ROCKS
I don't think that theres enough time in any of the classes.

I always thought that map makers must be really artistic and skilled (which I'm not). But when I realizied that on the agenda it said map making computer lab with Mr.Hough I freaked! But it turned out to be really easy and fun! Now I could make a map of anywhere in the whole world! THANKS MR.HOUGH! By the way this is Kelsey Thomas ! See Ya Later!
As the days passed by i have made a population map, used super cool but complicated GPS, and have learned about this new computer program. But personally i think making a map was the funest thing of all.
one day just like any other some guy came in and just so you know dont expect me to be like once upon a time that and once upon a time this.
ArcGIS was cool because we learned how to make maps on the cpu it was pretty cool so thats why i like it.
Mr. Ratcliffe is really cool. I love the way he explains things, it's really easy to understand.♣ Hello !My favorite thing about GPS is ...EVERY THING!At first i didn't even now how to turn it on but now that Mr.Ratcliff has shown me how to use it, i can use the informationfor more important things in life.So thank you Mr RATCLIFF!
P.S I HOPE I SPELLED YOUR NAME RIGHT!!

I have learned a lot so far! Even though I dont really understand...... but no matter I beleave that I will learn soon enough!
(ps I know that I sould learn how to typ...........and spell)
When we learned how to work a simple GPS with Mr. Ratcliffe I learned that not only can you figure out where things are, but you can figure out the time, altitude, tempurature, and much much more. The first thing we did was make sure our GPS's detected enough satellites to give us accurate information. Then we had to flip through the pages until we found a page with a triangle. After we had finished walking toward the tree and had come back, we saw that there were tracks from where we walked. The triangle showed us where we were and then there were small dots showing where we had been. Then we went to a page where there was a compass and we had to walk and turn until we came to a certain intermediate or cardinal direction. After this excercise we saved our data in a file. Then sadly we had to go back inside and wait until next time Mr. Ratcliffe will come. On a scale from 1-10 I rate this GPSing experience a 9. It was very fun and interesting.

The day we did the GPS stuff with Mr.Ratcliffe was very FUN!!!! He showed us how to use them and how to locate the things around us. We found a compass on the GPS and he made us walk toward a tree and locate the compass stick on the "N" for North!!!! It was GREAT!!!!!
Today Mr.Ratcliffe took us outside. When we got outside he gave us a GPS we sat down and he told us how to work it. Then he told us to walk aroud and we would leave bread crumbs. Then when we looked at the GPS it had little dots on it were we walked it was cool. Then we looked at elevation and he showed us some more things I had fun that day with Mr.Ratcliffe.
I dont really know if science is my favorite or not. I think its ok but i like social studies the best. But still i do like science alot.Im Hapyy today is early release are you?
mr.ratcliffe taught us how to use a gps and u can tpe in cordanats and it will sow u how to hhet there or u can save a spot and you can click on it agin and it will show you how to get there. it an also tell you how high off the ground you are how fast you are going andhow far away from your destanation you arer i had fun
I thought that Mr. Houghs lesson on GIS mapping was cool and it also looks fun !
Mr.Ratcliffe has came into Mrs.Pattie's classroom for third period and he has talked to my classmates and I about different things. One thing that we learned about that interested me the most was his lesson on GPS. Mr.Ratcliffe took my class and I outside of WCMS and we used a GPS to find out what direction we were going when we were walking around outside. We left a trail on the GPS and gave it a name. there was a class before my class that left a trail on the GPS and we had to follow it. This interested me because one GPS has to "talk" to at least eight satelites at one time.
